Yankees Place Aaron Hicks on Injured List With Right Flexor Strain After Activating JA Happ
By Thomas Carannante
The trying season for Aaron Hicks continues.
After missing the start of the season due to a back injury, which kept him out of action until May 15, the slugger is headed back to the injured list after just 59 games. He hurt his elbow on a throw against the Red Sox on Saturday, and the team later announced he suffered a right flexor strain.
Could Clint Frazier be on the way up now?
Hicks joins Edwin Encarnacion, who fractured his wrist after getting hit by a pitch, on the IL. The injuries keep piling up for the Yankees, which explains their beyond bizarre lineup for Sunday Night Baseball against the Sox, but they've managed to stay afloat thanks to their formidable depth.
These losses, however, could pose an issue given Gary Sanchez, Giancarlo Stanton and Luke Voit still have a little while to go. On top of that, Hicks' injury might be a bit problematic as he awaits an MRI.
