Yankees Place CC Sabathia on 10-Day IL With Knee Inflammation
By Michael Luciano
The already lackluster New York Yankees starting rotation has managed to get even more subpar now that CC Sabathia is on the mend.
The Yankees played their veteran left hander on the 10-Day IL with right knee inflammation. To take his spot, they recalled infielder Tyler Wade from Scranton. It remains to be seen how the Yankees will fill his spot in the rotation.
In his final season, CC is 5-6 with a 4.78 ERA. He has struggled over the last few months, surrendering 24 home runs in only 90 innings.
CC's injury couldn't come at a worse time for the Yankees, as a starter hasn't gone five innings in a week. The Twins and Red Sox have done a number on the team's ERA and has magnified how poor their staff is at the moment.
It's rare to see Yankee fans pining for the return of a 39-year-old with an ERA pushing five, but the state of New York's rotation is that dire.
