Yankees Place Kendrys Morales on 10-Day Injured List
By Sean Facey

The Kendrys Morales experiment in New York has, at least for the moment, come to a halt.
The Yankees have placed Morales on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain and have recalled southpaw Nestor Cortes Jr. and outfielder Mike Tauchman from Triple-A.
Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees placed 1B/DH Kendrys Morales on the 10-day I.L. (retro to 6/12) with a left calf strain, and recalled LHP Nestor Cortes Jr. (#67) and OF Mike Tauchman (#39) from Triple-A @swbrailriders.

Morales has struggled to find a groove with the Yankees this year, slashing just .177/.320/.242 in 75 plate appearances with the team. The 35-year-old veteran has just five extra-base hits in 53 total games in 2019.
Both Cortes and Tauchman have spent time at the major league level this year. Cortes has logged a 3.86 ERA in 14 innings of work with 15 strikeouts as a serviceable relief option out of the bullpen.
Tauchman slugged four home runs and drove in 13 runs to the tune of a modest .716 OPS in his 34 games with the Yankees early in the season.
Another left calf strain for the Yankees. Team announces that injury is sending DH/1B Kendrys Morales to the 10-day IL (retroactive to yesterday). Additionally, they’re calling up Nestor Cortes Jr. and Chicagoland native Mike Tauchman ahead of tonight’s game on the Southside.

Though Morales has had a forgettable start to his time in the Bronx, it's still alarming to see yet another Yankee head to the IL. When will the bad injury luck stop for the Bronx Bombers?
