Yankees Players Detail Team's Madden League and Call Tommy Kahnle a 'Corrupt Commissioner'
There is apparently a ton of drama in the New York Yankees locker room and it has nothing to do with the game of baseball.
The Athletic's Lindsey Adler documented the team's highly-competitive Madden league that is run by Tommy Kahnle, who serves as the league's commissioner. A ton of players are in on the action, but if there's a consensus agreement about the league, it's that Kahnle is corrupt.
There is clearly a ton of angst toward Commissioner Kahnle and his corrupt rule over the Madden league. Some of the comments seem to be made in jest, but there is clearly some truth behind the frustration.
Reliever Ben Heller described Kahnle's rule as being a "dictatorship" while outfielder Aaron Hicks called him a "horrible commissioner."
Anyone who has served as a commissioner of a Madden league knows how tough it can be to ensure the league is moving forward and that everyone is taking it seriously. That is one thing that Kahnle can argue.
The Yankees like to keep things competitive in the locker room, evidenced by the team's intense 64-man ping pong tournament (which Aaron Boone somehow predicted the winner of), and Madden is just another way to keep things exciting in the clubhouse.
