VIDEO: Yankees Prospect Clarke Schmidt Throwing Absolute Filth in His Backyard is Awesome
By Michael Luciano

The coronavirus pandemic has forced the New York Yankees to find all sorts of creative and unusual ways to stay in shape while practicing social distancing. Pitching prospect Clarke Schmidt decided to get a quasi-bullpen session in with his brother, showing off the excellent stuff that has Yankees fans excited about his future. Schmidt's pitches might have been a little too nasty for his brother to handle, however, as it appears that he broke his brother's thumb on the third pitch.

Schmidt, a former first-round pick out of South Carolina, posted a 3.47 ERA in 19 minor-league games last season, reaching as high as the Double-A Trenton Thunder.
At 24 years old, the Yankees were impressed with his command and poise on the mound, to say nothing of his filthy arsenal of pitches. His two best pitches are a power curveball that looks like an MLB strikeout pitch and a quality changeup.

Yankees fans were expecting to see Schmidt on the big league club given his Spring Training performance and his untapped potential, but they'll have to settle for backyard bullpens until the virus' spread starts to flatten out.
