3 Yankees Prospects Named to Baseball America's Top 100 List

Brian Cashman has kept the Yankees farm system rich with talent for the past several years, and he'll once again get to boast a number of blue-chip prospects heading into next season.
Baseball America released its top 100 prospects list for 2020 Wednesday, and three Baby Bombers made the cut -- headlined by Dominican outfielder Jasson Dominguez.

Dominguez was arguably baseball's highest-ceiling international prospect last summer, and checks in on this year's list as the 38th-ranked prospect overall. Cashman cashed in on a treasure trove of international money he had been hoarding since 2016 to bring in the 16-year-old Dominguez into the organization last July on a $5 million contract.
The stocky switch-hitting power hitter stands out through his pure athleticism and complete tool set. He will be a valuable piece in Cashman's arsenal for years to come.

The Yankees' other two top-100 prospects? A pair of pitchers, Clarke Schmidt (No. 62) and Deivi Garcia (No. 65).
Schmidt, a 23-year-old right-hander, has rapidly advanced all the way to Double-A Trenton in just the two years since being drafted in 2017. MLB.com listed him as a breakout candidate for 2020. He could don the Pinstripes sooner rather than later.

Finally, Garcia, another young Dominican, rounds out the Yankees' trio of top-100 honorees. He's taken a longer road through the minors after being an international acquisition by Cashman back in 2016, but is the closest to the majors of the three after an 11-game stint in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last season.
2019 saw his stock as a prospect skyrocket as he showed out at three different levels of minor league play.
Talk about a big relief. Top #Yankees prospect Deivi Garcia threw five hitless innings out of the bullpen, striking out seven.

There was talk about Garcia getting called up to the bigs as soon as last season, but another year of seasoning almost all but ensures his ticket to the Show isn't far away.
