Yankees Reinstate CC Sabathia From IL Before Sunday Night's Game Against Red Sox
By Mark Powell
The Yankees are getting healthy at the right time as they continue to widen their AL East lead over the rival Red Sox. Sure, they still have the Rays to worry about, but seeing Boston in the distant rearview has to bring some comfort to the Bronx Bombers.
As for the starting rotation, Yankees veteran CC Sabathia will make his return on Sunday to the active roster, as New York is activating the 38-year-old with every intention to start him on Sunday Night Baseball against Boston.
Sabathia's quick recovery from his knee injury does come with some long-term concern, but at his age the Yankees and CC aren't too concerned with his future in baseball. Considering this is CC's final season, Sabathia is willing to let it all hang out in hopes of earning one final World Series ring with the Yankees.
Sabathia has been stable on the season, sporting a 3-1 record with a 3.48 ERA. The likely future Hall-of-Famer may be in the twilight of his career, but he's still motivated to contribute before hanging up his cleats for good.
