Though his recovery from a life-threatening brain injury captivated the baseball world, Danny Farquhar's journey back to the big leagues has hit a major roadblock.

After just two games with their Triple-A team in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Yankees have cut bait with the right-hander.

Farquhar made his name with a nasty cutter as a member of the Seattle Mariners for three years. In 253 big league games over seven seasons, Farquhar has recorded 309 strikeouts and 18 saves.

Last year, while a member of the Chicago White Sox, Farquhar collapsed in the dugout during a game due to a hemorrhage following a brain aneurysm. The terrifying episode left not just his baseball career but also his life in serious jeopardy. Fortunately Farquhar was able to make a full recovery.

He was able to pitch again thanks to a special cap with increased protection he now wears. In two games for Scranton, Farquhar gave up 7 runs in three innings.

While he won't make his MLB return with the Yankees, he'll hopefully latch on somewhere else and continue his improbable journey bak to the bigs.
