Yankees Release Statement Following the Death of Former Pitcher Don Larsen

The sad news dropped late Wednesday night that New York Yankees legend Don Larsen died at the age of 90.
The man is most famous for his perfect game in the 1956 World Series in what remains one of the best performances in MLB history. He also remained a member of the Yankees family after he retired. The team shared its condolences for Larsen in a statement tweeted out by The Athletic's Lindsey Adler.

The statement was both succinct and heartfelt on what is a sad day for the organization. The mention of Larsen's embrace with Yogi Berra at the conclusion of his perfect game bring to mind one of the best images in sports history.

Larsen played his best baseball with the Yankees and the team continued to honor him throughout the remainder of his life. The Yankees will surely plan something to honor the man who became a legend in New York, where he played the best ball of his lengthy career.
