Yankees Release Statement in Wake of Domingo German's Suspension
By Scott Rogust
After months of investigation, Major League Baseball dropped the hammer on New York Yankees pitcher Domingo German. Following an alleged public domestic violence incident, the league suspended German for 63 games next season (81 total, with the ban being retroactive).
Following the announcement, the Yankees released an official statement on the punishment, showing their support for the league's investigative process while also expressing their encouragement of German's acceptance of discipline.
While the team did show support of German, they stressed they hope he makes a "commitment to making a meaningful and positive change in his personal conduct."
German is slated to return to the team in early June.
The Yankees are in a rather enviable position, as the 27-year-old's absence won't burn the team. New York boasts a starting rotation of Gerrit Cole, Masahiro Tanaka, Luis Severino, James Paxton and Jordan Montgomery. JA Happ will also be around if he's not traded.
This situation has finally be resolved, and all parties involved will be looking to put this in the past as we approach the 2020 season.
