After missing out on Marcus Stroman, Yankees fans are anxiously awaiting to see what moves the team has up its sleeves in order to bolster the starting rotation.

Well, it seems that the bullpen might be the area getting buffed up, as Jon Morosi reports that the Yankees have asked the Tigers about a trade for closer Shane Greene.

The Yankees have a glaring need in their rotation, especially with CC Sabathia hitting the IL, but the latest rumor links them with a closer who would likely be utilized to fill out the back-end of the bullpen.

On the year, Greene has a microscopic 1.22 ERA with 22 saves and 41 strikeouts in 37 innings of work and earned his first career All-Star bid.

Greene was actually dealt by the Yankees in the Didi Gregorius trade as part of the three-team swap, but now a reunion could be in order between the two sides, should the Bombers meet Detroit's asking price.

With the deadline rapidly approaching, the Yankees are exploring many options, and the latest is a link to Greene. It remains to be seen if anything would materialize, but he would be a valuable member of the bullpen, especially with Dellin Betances' availability for this season still up in the air.
