It's no secret that the New York Yankees are going to be buyers at the trade deadline, and they haven't hidden the fact that starting pitching is an area they're keen to address. Well, having been linked with a handful of solid starters, fans are eager to get some buzz about bringing a star to the Bronx.

While there's no likelihood this will materialize (haven't we already been over this during the offseason?!), perhaps the Yanks will be dealing with their in-state rivals in order to bring in a talented arm. Per the New York Post, the Yankees sent scout Cory Melvin to watch Noah Syndergaard's dominant outing on Saturday night in Miami.

Syndergaard hasn't had a great season, but he certainly impressed against the Marlins, pitching seven innings, surrendering five hits and two earned runs, while striking out nine batters.

While on the season he owns a less than flattering 4.55 ERA and has seen a dip in his K/9, it's obvious that he's one of the more talented flamethrowers in the league.

Despite the Mets stating that they plan to keep Syndergaard on the roster this season, perhaps the Yankees could persuade them to part ways with the 26-year-old.

The Yanks are far from the only team who would be interested in acquiring Thor's services, so if the Mets do backtrack and decide to make him available, a bidding war between several organizations could commence.
