Yankees Sending Message to Clint Frazier After Not Promoting Him in Wake of Giancarlo Stanton Injury

Clint Frazier may be with a new organization sooner rather than later. The young New York Yankees slugger was demoted to Triple-A on June 17 when the Yankees acquired Edwin Encarnacion, and he showcased his displeasure on Instagram at the time.

Now, with a spot seemingly open for him on the Major League club after Giancarlo Stanton was sent back to the injured list, he's remaining in the minors -- a clear sign of how the Yankees currently feel about him.

Frazier's defensive struggles in the outfield (not his natural position, mind you) were well-documented prior to his demotion, but he remains a legitimate threat at the plate. In 53 games in the show this season, he slashed .283/.330/.513 with 11 home runs. As a 24-year-old with limitless potential, that's a slash-line that merits starting every day in the bigs.

When Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge are both healthy, there simply isn't a spot for him in the lineup. But keeping him in the minors when Stanton goes down? That's a sign that the club is ready to move on from Frazier.

The Yankees could command a serious haul for Frazier if they do decide to move him, and they could even package him with a prospect like Estevan Florial to add an All-Star pitcher to their rotation.

Despite all the negative narratives that have surrounded him in New York this season, Frazier's still a great young player with an incredibly bright future. If the Yankees don't think he's worth a roster spot in the Bronx, it's probably time to move on.
