As if getting lapped by the next generation of arms in terms of import wasn't enough, soon-to-be-24-year-old Albert Abreu has come down with another apparent health complication.
Abreu swiftly left his start for Double-A Trenton on Tuesday, indicating his shoulder before departing.
Well, that escalated quickly. After 20 pitches, Albert Abreu is leaving his start for Trenton. Coaches came out to the mound and took him out after a brief discussion. Abreu appeared to be pointing to his shoulder. #Yankees

After a tough first half of the season, Abreu's past two starts have been far more palatable at the Double-A level; he's posted a six-inning shutout and a seven-inning, seven-strikeout gem.
Perhaps more devastating for the Yankees at this point is the fact that the newfound issue potentially takes a major trade chip off the table. We haven't seen the Yanks seriously consider adding Abreu to the big league roster yet (though they've already monitored the much-younger Deivi Garcia), but the No. 3 prospect is certainly one of their hottest trade chips approaching the July 31 deadline.
Stuck in traffic trying to get to the park. I won’t see Albert Abreu when I arrive, it seems. Not good. https://t.co/rzkm0SRaCz

Or he was, at least, before this moment. The latest tough break in a season full of them.
