Yankees' Tyler Wade Barred From Using Silver Players' Weekend Bat for Some Reason
By Scott Rogust
Major League Baseball's Players' Weekend in years past was met with great praise, mainly for their use of colorful uniforms to match the personalities of the game's athletes. This year, the league opted for bland black and white monochrome uniforms for all 32 teams, and has been mocked and criticized by the thousands.
If you fall under that category, prepare for the impending boiling of your blood.
During Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees infielder Tyler Wade was banned from stepping into the batter's box with his silver Players' Weekend bat by the home plate umpire for some strange reason. As a result, Wade had to grab a new bat from the Yankees dugout.
Apparently, the umpires didn't receive the memo regarding Players' Weekend. Did the ump legitimately think Wade stepped up to the plate with an aluminum bat? Whatever happened, T-Wade certainly went well out of his way to create this...thing, then didn't even get a chance to use it.
MLB players are allowed to wear bright neon cleats and flashy gloves on the field, but apparently a silver bat was drawing the line.
This photo summed up Players' Weekend in general...just an utter disappointment. Hopefully, Major League Baseball learns from their mistakes, especially with those ghastly uniforms.
