Yankees Lineup
The Yankees hope sluggers Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge are close to returning to the lineup, as both of them are ramping up their baseball activities after extend IL stints. Gary Sánchez, who has compiled 19 home runs and 37 RBI, has led the offense in their absence. Sánchez will bat cleanup on Thursday behind DJ Lemahieu, Aaron Hicks, and Luke Voit. Kendrys Morales is at first base and Clint Frazier is in right field for the second consecutive outing.
J.A. Happ (5-3, 4.83 ERA) will be on the hill for the Yanks as they look to salvage the series finale. He's fresh off of a solid start against the Red Sox in his last appearance, when he pitched 5 innings and allowed just 3 hits and 1 run.
Blue Jays Lineup
Rookie sensation Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will be in the two-hole for the Jays, looking to replicate Wednesday night's performance in which he reached base twice and hit the go-ahead home run in the eighth inning. He's preceded in the lineup by Eric Sogard, who has been a pleasant surprise on offense in limited action.
The Blue Jays will start right-hander Edwin Jackson (0-3, 13.22 ERA), who has been atrocious in his first 4 starts for the Blue Jays. He'll look to bounce back after allowing 10 runs in his last start against the Rockies.
The Yankees will try to take advantage of a favorable pitching matchup and snap their 3-game losing streak Thursday night. They travel to Cleveland Friday for a weekend series against the Indians, while the Blue Jays will stay home to take on the Diamondbacks Friday.
