Yankees Wait Disgracefully Long Time to Cancel Subway Series Opener
By Michael Luciano
It's Subway Series time! The red-hot Pete Alonso and the Mets against Masahiro Tanaka and the Yankees! While this matchup looked pretty enticing on paper, apparently Mother Nature had other plans in mind.
The first game of this week's Mets-Yankees series in the Bronx was postponed just a half-hour before the game started, which will necessitate a double-header Tuesday.
To further rub salt in the wound, the Yankees made everyone pay for tickets, parking, transportation, and food before canceling the game at essentially the last minute.
Don't worry, fans who blew all that money on a ticket for a game they won't get to see! At least you got some overpriced fast food.
Considering that the forecast looked no different than it did an hour before the cancellation, this was either really poor planning or a total cash grab.
It astounds me how a team like the Yankees don't have the foresight to realize that they weren't going to squeeze this game in. At least the billionaires in the suites made their money on parking and concessions, huh?
