Yasiel Puig to Serve Suspension and Miss Entire Red Sox Series
By Parker White
Cleveland Indians outfielder Yasiel Puig was suspended three games after being involved in a brawl in his final game with the Cincinnati Reds.
Puig has dropped his appeal, and will begin his suspension Monday night against the Boston Red Sox. He'll miss the entire three-game series.
This is coming at an inopportune time for the Indians, who have erased the 11.5-game deficit in the division and are currently tied for first place with the Minnesota Twins. Every game matters, and they'll be with out one of thumpers in the lineup against an AL power, albeit on their home turf.
In 11 games as a member of the Indians, Puig is hitting .357 with one home run and six RBI.
Oddly enough, the 28-year-old had technically been traded to Cleveland shortly before the brawl took place between the Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates. Who knows if Puig would have even been in the fold if he'd taken out of the game at the proper point?
