VIDEO: Yoenis Cespedes Tweets Hype Clip Showing He's Ready to Prove His Haters Wrong
By Brendan Balsamo
Yoenis Cespedes has been a letdown ever since the New York Mets signed him to a new contract after the 2016 season. Since then, he has struggled to stay off the IL, having not played more than 81 games since 2016. Cespedes evidently is looking to put that talk to rest after he released a workout video on Thursday that shows him using haters' talk as fuel.
Cespedes missed the entirety of the 2019 season after getting surgery for bone spurs at the end of the 2018 campaign, paired with breaking his ankle on his ranch.
Cespedes has shown that he can be an elite player when fully healthy, as in his last full season in 2016, he hit .280 with 31 home runs and 86 RBI and finished eighth in MVP voting.
Mets fans have every reason to be hyped, as infusing Cespedes into an already dangerous lineup can put the Amazins over the hump to finally reach the playoffs for the first time since the 34-year-old's last full season.
