Zach Ertz Had a Hard Time Staying in Shape While in France for Women's World Cup
By Karl Rasmussen
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz didn't have your run-of-the-mill NFL offseason, as he accompanied his wife, Julie, on her journey through the World Cup as a member of the US Women's National Team. With Ertz being a high-level athlete himself, he was obligated to maintain his intense workout program while supporting Julie in France, but that wasn't always easy to do so far away from home.
Ertz says he had to overcome the difficulties of training without air conditioning, as well as trying to balance his diet given the differences in cuisine.
Nike was a huge help during the three-and-a-half-week trip to France, setting up the opportunity for the Eagles tight end to train at the French Olympic training center. He expressed thanks for all the amenities offered to him which enabled him to continue his high-intensity workout program, claiming to have been in the gym for five to six hours a day.
Anyone worried about Zach not putting the work in while off on vacation should put those concerns to rest, as he clearly was getting after it during the offseason despite his role as cheerleader-in-chief at the Women's World Cup.
Ertz is coming off a massively productive season with the Eagles, during which he recorded his first 1,000-yard campaign, as well as his first over 100 receptions. He logged 1,163 receiving yards with 116 catches and scored 8 times, earning his second consecutive trip to the Pro Bowl.
