VIDEO: Phillies’ Zack Wheeler Stuns Willians Astudillo With Absurd 2-Seam Fastball
By Brendan Balsamo

Zack Wheeler faced his fair share of criticism this offseason after penning a massive five-year, $118 million deal with the Phillies. Well, early on in spring, Wheeler is proving all of those doubters wrong, and he's doing it with some of the filthiest stuff you've ever seen. Just check out this two-seam fastball he threw to Willians Astudillo to get a swinging strikeout on Tuesday. This pitch had so much movement, it actually ended up BEHIND Astudillo.

Since his debut in 2018, La Tortuga's contact rate is an absurd 91.9%, so it will take an absurd pitch for him to swing right through. Wheeler's two-seam that broke the laws of physics was indeed absurd.
Wheeler didn't just impress on the mound with four innings of one run ball, he even snuck in a hit at the plate in his only at bat.

If his two-seamer moves like that all year, the Phillies' return on investment from Wheeler will more than justify the $118 million they paid him.
