Zion Williamson Suing Marketing Agency to Terminate Alleged Unlawful Agreement
By Brian Cass

Former Duke basketball star and projected NBA Draft No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson is taking legal action against a Florida-based marketing company. He has filed a lawsuit to enforce the termination of an agreement he previously signed with them.
Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Williamson and his attorneys are claiming that the agreement was unlawful under North Carolina law, and thereby must be voided.

Since cutting ties with Prime Sports Marketing LLC, Zion signed with CAA Sports for his marketing representation.
Although the agreement Zion signed with Prime included a clause that it could not be terminated for five years, his attorneys have stated the agreement was unlawful because it violated the state of North Carolina's Uniform Athlete Agents Agreement. Additionally, the contract did not contain a notice that the athlete would no longer be eligible for collegiate sports if it was signed.
Read the Zion lawsuit and there have to be some things missing. Why would one of the most hyped prospects of all time just randomly sign with an unknown firm 5 days after declaring for draft with no lawyer present? Something fishy about this https://t.co/sE90nKvb7T pic.twitter.com/v1LhPjZJPO

Despite this lawsuit, the New Orleans Pelicans are still primed to select the Duke phenom with the first overall pick once the draft rolls around. It would be bizarre if an episode like this changed the franchise's opinion on Zion, who's simply getting his ducks in a row here.
