Ryan Day responds to Jeremiah Smith landing $4.5 million offer to transfer

Freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith is riding high after helping Ohio State win the National Championship on Monday night. Buckeyes fans are already looking forward to him balling out in 2025 too. However, could he end up suiting up for a different team?
On Friday morning, a report broke from Pete Nakos stating that an unknown team has put a $4.5 million offer on the table for Smith to enter the portal and leave Ohio State. Ryan Day was asked about this and it sure seems like he's ready for the NCAA to step in and set some solid rules in place:

It's certainly a gray area. Smith is not in the portal, yet a program/coaching staff reached out to him and offered him more than $4 million to play for them? Yeah, this is tampering at its finest. Only time will tell if Smith decides to transfer or not, but there are surely plenty of nervous Buckeyes supporters right now.
