Washington State QB John Mateer officially enters the transfer portal

The news Washington State fans were hoping would never come dropped to start the week. Quarterback John Mateer, who put up video game-type numbers in his first season as the starting signal-caller for the Cougs, is on his way out of town.
There had been plenty of speculation that Mateer would be entering the portal and he did just that on Monday. Jake Dickert said WSU had a seven-figure offer on the table to keep him in town, but it wasn't enough:

With the portal open until Dec. 28, the expectation is that Mateer is going to make a quick decision. He's been linked with Oklahoma for quite some time, as the Sooners recently hired former WSU OC Ben Arbuckle. Miami is reportedly looking to make a run at him too. Soon enough, we'll find out where the next stop for the talented QB will be.
